Dazzling, sparkling spring has returned to the city. Light crosses as though sunlit buds were making a joyful uproar, brightly illuminating Plane Tree Avenue.

街にキラキラと目映い春が帰ってきた。陽を受けた新芽が大騒ぎをしているかのように、光が交差してプラタナス通りを明るく照らしている。

Air in the shade remains cold, but passersby's spirits are light and their steps naturally quicken in rhythm. This is also the season that makes families want to go out together.

日陰の空気はまだ冷たいけど、行き交う人たちの気持ちは軽く、リズミカルに自然な調子で早足になっている。家族で出かけたくなるのもこの季節だね。

The darkened brick of an old building reflected in glass doors asserts rich color as though freshly painted and gives another breath of spring.

The plane trees beyond the window will soon carry pale-green leaves, making the sidewalk gently shaded. I look forward to watching the streets grow steadily more beautiful.

ダウンタウンの風景も光と影とのグラデーションが強くなってとてもドラマチックだ。いよいよ3Dの世界だね。これで緑が加われば完璧だ。

Linda visited from early-summer Los Angeles on vacation with her two sisters. Spring has reached Seattle too, though perhaps it feels a little cold. She seemed to like the clear air and quiet city. I photographed her without permission, but meeting through such an encounter is part of street photography's pleasure.

休暇で初夏のロス・アンジェルスから三人姉妹で訪ねてきたLindaさん、シアトルにも春が来てるけど、こちらは少し寒いかな。でも澄んだ空気と静かな佇まいの街がお気に入りの様子。勝手に写しちゃったけど、そんな縁で知り合うのもストリートスナップの楽しさだよね。

At this season I want to visit an herb shop in search of spring flavors and scents. Merely entering clears the spirit and makes me breathe deeply again and again.

この時期になると春の味や香りを探しにハーブの店を訪ねたくなるもんね。そいで中へ入るだけで気持ちがす～っとして何度も深呼吸するんだ。

Wind between the buildings is still cold, while sunlit places grow warm enough for perspiration. Because spring was awaited, this style looks energetic, youthful, and quite good.

ビルの谷間の隙間風はまだ冷たいね。でも日の当たる場所は汗ばむくらい。待ってた春だからこそのこのスタイルが元気で、若々しくて、なかなかよろしい。

Walking outside becomes delightful. Look with a little attention and spring appears everywhere. A switch turns on in the heart, spirits rise, posture straightens, and even my expression brightens. This year looks likely to be interesting.

外歩きが楽しくなる時季だ。少し注意して目を向けるとあちらにもこちらにも春がある。気持ちにスイッチが入って気分が高まり、姿勢も伸びて自分の表情も明るくなる。さてこの一年も面白くなりそうだ。
